Washington's new policing laws could be a hot topic of conversation at tonight's National Night Out in Wenatchee.

The laws change the way police respond to calls, and there have been complaints they place too many restrictions on enforcement.

More than 2,500 people attended in-person and virtually a Town Hall meetings about the new laws Monday night hosted by the Chelan County Sheriff's Office.

Wenatchee's National Night Out takes place at three locations - Lincoln, Washington and Rotary parks - from six to eight-thirty.

City Councilors will be there to answer questions from the public, and there'll be giveaways from several local businesses.

According to Wenatchee Police, shave ice is being served at 6:15 at Lincoln Park, while there'll be ice cream trucks at the same time in Washington and Rotary Parks.

Sponsors include Lowe's Hardware, Stan's Merry Mart, Ridgeline Graphics, Target, Hooked on Toys and Sports, and the Ice House.

East Wenatchee National Night Out is Thursday at Eastmont Community Park, from 6 to 7:30.
