Congressman Dan Newhouse joined fellow Washington Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers last week in introducing the Hydropower Clean Energy Future Act.

4th District Representative Newhouse, there are three major elements to the bill, the first being that it supports and underscores the importance of research into improving the technologies of hydropower generation.

Newhouse said, "In the eyes of the federal government, hydropower is not considered a renewable resource. This bill would address that definition of hydropower and include it on the list of being a renewable source of energy."

The bill would also improve and speed up the processes that are necessary for permitting hydropower projects.

The bill in its entirety can be found here.
