The Salem-based farmer cooperative NORPAC plans to sell its Quincy Foods plant to Oregon Potato Company.

According to the Statesman-Journal, NORPAC had been trying to sell the plant since filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in August.

A deal between the two companies had previously been reached back in mid-October, but Oregon Potato Company Owner Frank Tiegs backed out of the deal, citing regulatory and environmental issues.

The Quincy Foods plant will sell for $93.5 million, and competing bids were due Monday.

NORPAC has not indicated whether it will lay off any workers at Quincy Foods. The company has laid off nearly 1,400 workers at its Stayton, Salem and Brooks locations.

The purchase could be approved as early as today (Tuesday).
