North Cascades Highway Opens for the Season

The Washington State Department of Transportation opened the North Cascades Highway Tuesday morning for the season.

The scenic roadway closed for winter on December 11th.

The stretch of State Route 20 closes every year due to avalanche risk.

This year's opening is nearly a month later than last year which was the earliest opening since 2015.

North Cascades National Park is still closed to the public until further notice though.
