The Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce is backing Senate Bill 5114, legislation to move businesses, including those currently closed, into Phase 2.

The hearing for the bill resulted in 1,642 people signed in to participate with 1,519 signed in as pro, 101 signed in as con and 22 people signed in as other. Roughly 92% of the participation was in favor of the bill.

"We're not talking every single business opens at 100%," said Sasha Sleiman, governmental affairs director. "This is within the governor's mandate, within the Roadmap to Recovery."

According to the statewide poll, 75% of Washington residents support reopening indoor dining at 50%. The support was bipartisan with 60% Democrats, 81% independents and 93% Republicans.

"It would just give businesses in our community a little bit more hope and a little bit more ability to operate," said Sleiman.
