Two people are in jail and children are in protective custody after Wenatchee Valley police recovered 290 grams of meth, $2,000 cash and stolen tools in a bust Thursday.

East Wenatchee Police Sergeant Karsten Garcia said investigators serving a search warrant for stolen property on a house in Wenatchee Tuesday learned of more stolen items at a nearby apartment. Officers from East Wenatchee were aided by the Wenatchee Police Department and the Columbia River Drug Task Force.

"During the execution of that search warrant illegal drugs were located in the apartment. So officers backed out, got an amended search warrant to include the drugs and then went back." Garcia stated, "(They) finished the search warrant, recovered a large amount of illegal drugs and some more stolen tools."

A 35-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Sell and for Child Endangerment with a Controlled Substance.

Children living in the apartment were taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services.
