One Dead in Grant County Shop Fire

A Grant county resident died in a structure fire Tuesday morning near Mattawa.

Grant County Sheriff's Office PIO Kyle Foreman says personnel from Grant County Fire District 8 responded to the 23000 block of Road O Southwest around 8:30 am for a shop fire. They later discovered the deceased victim inside.

"It was a garage or shop of some type, and there was a living quarters inside of that structure." detailed Foreman, "That's where the person was who passed away."

The coroner is currently working to identify the victim and notify next of kin. An autopsy will be conducted at a later date.

There is no indication of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing.
