Grant County Sheriff's Public Information Officer Deputy Kyle Foreman says they have seen the number of opioids entering the county rise in recent years. In 2015, their Narcotics Enforcement Team seized about 530 grams of heroin. Last year, that number spiked to nearly 3,500. Foreman called the opioid abuse a local problem as well as a national problem and that the Sheriffs Office is compelled to be prepared to handle it. There were 17 overdose-related deaths last year though it's unknown how many were specifically related to opioids.
