The attorneys representing the plaintiffs in the liability lawsuit against the state over the deadly 2014 Oso landslide announced a $50 million settlement. The Seattle Times says, it includes an additional amount of almost $395,000 for attorneys’ fees and costs. It doesn't include any penalties a King County Superior Court judge might impose against the state for the destruction by state experts of emails. The proposed settlement was reached Sunday, the day before a jury was set to convene in the trial, which was expected to last months. The settlement has to be approved by Judge Roger Rogoff, who presided over the litigation.
