The Port of Coulee was awarded $846,000 from the state capital budget to fund Phase 2 of the over 4,000 square foot Coulee City Medical Clinic project. The clinic would include examination rooms, treatment rooms, a laboratory and work in conjunction with neighboring medical providers such as Grant County Mental Health.

"We're been on the hunt for funding for our medical clinic for six years since we've had the vision of trying to replace our existing clinic," said Travis Liening, Grant County Port District commissioner chairman. "It's a good portion, but it still isn't quite enough to get the clinic that we have, with plans drawn up and prepared, it won't quite the need to get it built."

The Port of Coulee City purchased the property in Coulee City for the clinic in 2015, located at the northeast corner of West Main Street and North Third Street. The port was awarded funding in 2018 for phase 1 of the project, which included design and engineering work.

"It's a huge bonus and a huge benefit to have the state on board with us," said Liening.
