Pro choice protesters are gearing up for their next event after holding a rally Saturday at Memorial Park in Wenatchee.

Roughly 300 people attended to hear speakers tell their stories about the need for safe, legal abortion services in the United States.

The Wenatchee gathering was part of a nationwide group of rallies held under the banner "Bans Off Our Bodies", as groups took to the streets of large cities such as New York, Atlanta, to Chicago and Los Angeles.

A similar rally was held regionally at Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

Planned Parenthood took a lead roles in organizing the gatherings.

The protests kicked off what organizers predict will be a “summer of rage” ignited by the May 2 disclosure of a draft opinion showing the court’s conservative majority ready to reverse the 1973 ruling that established a woman’s constitutional right to terminate her pregnancy.

Organizers at the Wenatchee event did not make themselves available for comment.
