Representative Schrier in Favor of For the People Act

8th District Representative Kim Schrier gave an update recently on some of her party's legislative priorities, among them being the For the People Act.

Schrier said that false claims of fraud in the last election are being used to justify creating laws that make it harder for people to vote.

"We want to make sure that everybody that is eligible to vote can cast their vote safely and that their vote is legitimately counted," explained Schrier.

The bill would expand voter registration and voting access while limiting the removal of voters from voter rolls. It would also require states to establish independent redistricting commissions to carry out congressional redistricting. In addition, the legislation focuses on election security, campaign finance, ethics, and candidates' tax returns.
