New mapping has shrunk the size of the Saddle Mountain fire to 8,063 acres as of Wednesday evening.

It is also now 90% contained.

In a press release providing the update, it was noted crews were working to secure the perimeter while also monitoring for hot spots, particularly in some drainages and bluff areas where there might be unburned fuel.

More than half of the original team to fight the fire has been sent home and there are now 100 people on the crew.

The team says the fire line is also holding and that they have no major concerns at this time.
