The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival, set for September 17-19, has been cancelled for 2020 and postponed to 2021 as a result of COVID-19 impacts.

"Salmon fest is about connecting people with nature and it's about connecting children," said Corky Broaddus, festival director. "Our first two days of Salmon Fest are always dedicated to school groups that come from throughout all of North Central Washington."

According to Broaddus, the timing didn't feel right to invite 2,500-3,000 students to the Salmon Fest in September when schools are still unsure what direction instruction will go next year.

"Salmon Fest is one of those very complex events when you link up a lot of generations of people that come out to Salmon Fest," said Broaddus.

The nature festival is putting together a 30th Anniversary celebration 'Salmon of the Future' for September 15-18, 2021.

"We'll be highlighting some of the major Salmon Fest favorites, we'll be hosting some special performances by a variety of people and we'll have a big anniversary party on Saturday which is the public day," said Broaddus.
