Seattle Area Man Pleads Guilty to Child Molestation in Chelan County

A 55-year-old Renton man is in the Chelan County Jail after pleading guilty Tuesday to child molestation.

Mark Darren Starman admitted to having sexual contact with a child under 16 when he was in Lake Entiat in 2007.

Starman was arrested and charged in 2019 after a woman told deputies he had molested her when she was a teenager years earlier.

He's scheduled to be sentenced in late June in Chelan County Superior Court after pleading guilty to third-degree child molestation before his trial was to start.

A standard sentence for Starman's crime is 6-12 months in jail, with three years of community service. His plea document shows that the prosecuting attorney will ask for 12 months and one day as an exceptional sentence, along with 36 months of community custody.
