A semi truck and trailer went off the roadway on State Route 2, westbound, into the Wenatchee River around 7 a.m. Thursday. The semi and trailer went through WSDOT guardrail, down an embankment and is currently stuck at a hard angle, with part of the truck in the river.

The driver was uninjured and the trailer was empty.

"The conditions were slick and possibly icy in that area," said Trooper John Bryant. "The initial investigation by troopers indicated the driver was maybe driving too fast for conditions."

Highway 2 is closed for several hours with an estimated time of reopening at 4 p.m. Thursday. Motorists needing to travel over Stevens Pass are advised to use the detour route of Chumstick Highway to Beaver Valley Road to State Route 207.
