Senator Hawkins’ Wildfire Bill With Electric Utilities Focus Almost to Finish Line

Senator Brad Hawkins' utility wildfire bill, Senate Bill 5158, is headed for Governor Jay Inslee's desk. The bill was amended in the House of Representatives and slid back to the Senate for another vote, which was approved last week.

"I'd like to thank Chelan PUD and other electric utilities and the DNR for helping so much on that bill," said Senator Hawkins. "I'm excited that we're taking a step forward on that this year."

SB 5158 instructs Washington state Department of Natural Resources to follow recommendations passed down from the Electric Utilities Wildland Fire Prevention Task Force.
