The State House of Representatives passed a bill Tuesday designed to help charter schools succeed in Washington after two failed in recent years.

Rep. Paul Harris' bill allows the state's Charter School Commission hire an executive director who could then build a team to support these alternative options for students.

The bill passed with bipartisan support with Harris saying, "Ultimately, I believe every child should have the opportunity to excel in school, no matter how they learn."

The bill has moved onto the Senate.
