The State House passed the biennium transportation budget Friday.

12th District Rep. Keith Goehner says this is different a bigger, transportation package that is still being worked on.

"This is just a bare bones budget. It really doesn't have any of the projects that we all hope to get in our respective districts. It does provide for some maintenance and preservation, some ongoing projects that need to be funded and to keep the transportation sector moving."

The budget included an amendment proposed by Goehner that will direct the Transportation Commission to look at additional revenue options outside of the transportation budget.

"I'm thinking particularly the general fund. We've gotten significant additional revenues that were not anticipated. It is time for us to take that money. The federal government does this, but it's up to local governments who can do this also. They take that money and put it towards infrastructure."

Both the transportation budget or the larger revenue package, so far, do not contain a provision to make car tabs $30.
