Washington State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler has announced the extension of his emergency order which directs all state regulated health insurers to add coverage changes for consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The extension is until August 16th and requires health insurers to adapt to the current circumstances for consumers such as telehealth coverage. The order also requires the coverage of all medically necessary diagnostic testing for flu and viral respiratory illnesses billed during a provider visit for COVID-19 with no copay, coinsurance or deductible and treat drive up COVID testing sites as provider visit with no copay, coinsurance or deductible.
