A former Ellensburg resident now faces charges for a drug overdose death last year in which a man fell to his death.

Officers say they were called to a possible overdose at an apartment complex and witnessed Darin Cole fall from a fourth-floor window.

Cole, who was a student at Central Washington University, died that evening on March 10th of 2020.

Ellensburg Police have now arrested and charged a 24-year-old suspect with Controlled Substance Homicide, claiming the suspect delivered LSD to Cole the day he overdosed.

They're crediting the Washington State Patrol Crime and Toxicology labs with helping their investigation to identify the suspect, who was arrested in the western Washington city of Sedro Woolley last Thursday.

It's the second arrest involving Ellensburg Police for a drug overdose death in the past week.

Last Tuesday, a 19-year-old suspect was arrested in Hawaii for controlled substance homicide as a result of an investigation by Ellensburg Police into the death of a 21-year-old.

The department sent its condolences to the families of both overdose victims.
