The AppleSox sit 2.5 games ahead of the Victoria HarbourCats for first place in the North Division in the second half after Victoria's loss to the Kelowna Falcons, 10-0, on Sunday afternoon. Bellingham scored four times on three hits and three Wenatchee errors in a rough 8th inning. The AppleSox’ seven-game winning streak and 12-game home winning streak both came to an end on Wednesday as they fell at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium in league play for the first time since June 27.
Josh Williams hit his first two home runs of the summer in his first two at-bats to drive in four-of-five runs. His 4-RBI night was the AppleSox first multi-homer game since June 27, 2018 when Cory Meyer hit two grand slams.
The Wenatchee AppleSox opened up their six-game road trip with a 12-8 win over the Nanaimo Night Owls on Tuesday night. Wenatchee (23-8) earned its fourth consecutive win and snapped Nanaimo’s six-game winning streak.
Mason Strong singled in a pair of runs in the first inning but the Wenatchee AppleSox fell to the Edmonton Riverhawks, 11-2, on Saturday night at RE/MAX Field.
Wenatchee (+58) has now won three straight and holds the tiebreaker over Bellingham (+43) for first place in the North Division due to a higher run differential. The first half ends on Thursday and the team in first place will earn the top playoff spot in the North Division for the postseason.
