COVID-19 has made an impact on the Brewster healthcare provider, Three Rivers Hospital, despite not having any cases in the area yet. Three Rivers has experienced financial strain as a result of COVID-19.

"Part of our aim to slow the spread of the virus, along with many other hospitals, is that we are restricting the number of visitors, we are rescheduling elective procedures per the Governor's orders and in our clinic we are rescheduling appointments so they can be done over the phone or via video chats," said Jennifer Best, business development coordinator. "It does affect us, because we're seeing fewer patients in our building."

The drop in the number of patients impacts the hospital due to less revenue and more expenses, as the hospital prepares for COVID-19 in the community.

"This is why we're reaching out to the state for help, this is why we're reaching out to the federal government for help," said Best.

CEO of Three Rivers Hospital, Scott Graham, has reached out to the Washington State Hospital Association, Governor Inslee and the American Hospital Association in hopes of securing funding to support the hospital's position.

"It would be extremely beneficial if they (the community) would like to tell their story about Three Rivers Hospital," said Best. "Or you can write your legislators or give them a call and tell your story about how Three Rivers Hospital has helped you in the past and why you think that we should be part of any package to receive any kind of federal aid during this time so we can stay open to help patients."
