The Town Toyota Center COVID-19 testing site is loosening requirements to allow anybody, regardless of symptoms to receive a test. Only symptomatic people were allowed until a Tuesday announcement easing those conditions.

It's also done away with the need for appointments, and is welcoming the public on a walk-in basis.

The virus testing site opened in early January and quickly put restrictions in place because of high demand and limited testing supplies with the outbreak of the Omicron variant.

Hundreds of cars jammed the Town Toyota Center parking lot daily at a peak in late January before demand began to subside.

The Chelan Douglas Health District blamed the hours long wait times on people who showed up without making an appointment.

The site even closed down for two consecutive days at one point to give workers a rest as staffing levels were low.

The Town Toyota Center testing site continues to be open six days a week - Monday through Saturday - from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The Health District has not published any new data since new COVID-19 cases sustained levels of more than 3,000 per 100,00 people over a 14-day period in late January.
