With Daylight Savings this weekend, the Red Cross is reminding everyone that with the turning ahead of clocks, it's time to test your smoke alarms. Communications Program Manager Betsy Robertson says they call it Turn and Test.

"Go around your house, check your smoke alarms to make sure they're functioning. If not, take the extra step of replacing a battery or replacing the alarm and making your home more safe."

If you don't have a working smoke alarm, the Red Cross does have a program to help called the Home Fire Campaign. You can request an alarm and installation at getasmokealarm.org.

"They say it takes less than two minutes, you have less than two minutes to get out of your home safely in the event a fire breaks out. So give yourself the best chance possible. Make sure you're alerted as soon as possible, make sure those alarms are working."

Robertson says it's also a good time to make sure you have escape routes and meeting places in case of a fire, and supplies in case of any emergencies.

Daylight Savings begins Sunday at 2:00 a.m.
