A two-car collision five miles north of Brewster Tuesday morning resulted in the death of one driver.

Trooper John Bryant said there were no passengers. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

"Up (State Route) 97 near the SR 17 junction, there's kind of a three-way (intersection). There is little small scale house and that's the area that it happened." explained Bryant, "I don't know if it was an attempted bad pass or what. One of the drivers is also in custody for DUI and possibly (vehicular homicide)."

The northbound lane of SR 97 was closed for roughly four hours as detectives and crews worked on the scene.
