UPS has come to an agreement to lease a portion of the WSDOT property temporarily for the holiday season.

Wenatchee Development Project Manager Matt Shales says this will be in addition to the UPS facility in the south end of town.

"I think in years past, for the need, they were able to use their current space. The need is so great this year that they need to expand that operation and it won't fit [their current building.]"

The expectations are that online ordering, and thus delivery and shipping, will be greatly expanded this winter.

Mayor Frank Kuntz called it a win-win since they city doesn't have plans for the property until spring at the earliest.

Drivers on North Wenatchee Avenue will see two large semi-trailers connected back-to-back for delivery trucks to come and get their daily packages.
