Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson Warning Law Enforcement About I-1639

Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson has written an open letter to law enforcement after several county sheriffs have said they do not plan on implementing Initiative 1639, the gun control initiative that was passed in November. Ferguson says he’s most concerned about enhanced background checks not being performed saying it’s the same kind of background check that are done for handguns. In addition, Ferguson says law enforcement could be held liable if there is a sale or transfer of a firearm to a dangerous individual prohibited from possessing a firearm and that individual uses that firearm to do harm.
