A bill to end the tax on menstrual products is headed to the governor’s desk.

State Senator Lynda Wilson’s measure is the largest tax cut of the 2020 legislative session.

"I was starting to receive emails from a lot of women, even across the country, about the 'Pink Tax.' The 'Pink Tax' is the tax being charged on women's products, specifically feminine hygiene products which we are now calling menstrual products. A tax that women pay exclusively because guys just don't use them."

Washington will become the 18th state to end the tax on menstrual products.

Wilson says her tax can also help homeless women.

"One of the most common needs of homeless women is menstrual products. It's important that they are able to get to these products."

The Vancouver Republican says she started thinking about this shortly after she was elected to the House of Representatives in 2015.
