Several major roads through Washington were closed due to the snow and wind this weekend. I-90, I-82, US 2, SR 17, SR 24, and SR 26 were among just some of the closures.
Washington State Patrol Trooper John Bryant, who covers Okanogan, Chelan, Douglas, Kittitas and Grant County, stated Sunday afternoon that the fact so many roads were closed actually made for a very light collision report over the weekend.
“A couple folks transported to the hospital but no fatalities.” said Bryant, “On State Route 2 near Leavenworth we had a head-on collision with one of the drivers transported to the hospital. That was the major injury of the weekend right now. Mostly it’s been people stuck in snow drifts or just people stuck in traffic.”
Snow drifts continue to plague road-clearing efforts as winds are pushing more snow into roadways, especially in areas on the Columbia Plateau.
