Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife have discovered and decontaminated more invasive species on watercrafts than ever. With one month left in 2020, WDFW invasive species unit has inspected over 32,000 boats at its two stations in Spokane and Pasco.

"It's up a little bit from from last year, but not a lot," said Staci Lehman, WDFW Public Affairs. "Considering it was a pandemic year, if it hadn't been that number would've been up a lot more."

According to Lehman, almost 1/3 of the inspected boats came from other states' waters.

Currently, the Columbia River basin is the last major watershed in the U.S. that is not infested by zebra and quagga mussels.
