Another round of snow is expected Thursday for much of central Washington. The National Weather Service has posted a A Winter Storm Warning from 10am Thursday to 4am Friday.
The area region covered by the warning; the Wenatchee area, Waterville Plateau, Chelan, Entiat, Cashmere, Waterville, Mansfield and Badger Mountain Road.
Snowfall could be heavy at times with total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches expected. The National Weather Service is warning travel could be very difficult by with hazardous conditions during the Thursday evening commute.
Travel on I-90 is limited. Eastbound I-90 is open. There is limited access to the summit area and no ability to return westbound from the summit. Expect delays near MP 47. Westbound I-90 is closed from MP 106 near Ellensburg to MP 34 near North Bend. Update on westbound at 12 a.m., midnight.
Avalanche control is planned for US 2 Stevens Pass on Thursday, February 14th at 4:00 a.m. Eastbound traffic will be stopped at Scenic at milepost 58 and westbound traffic will be stopped at milepost 64, the summit of Stevens Pass. Avalanche control work generally takes from 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete. WSDOT will provide an update should an extended closure become necessary.
