A Wenatchee man will serve 17-and-a-half years in federal prison for sexually abusing children.

Wenatchee Police originally arrested Jose Antonio Mendoza in January 2020 for child pornography, but then rearrested him the following month for sexually molesting children shown in his videos and photos.

Officers had seized numerous devices from his residence containing images of child pornography after obtaining a search warrant.

He originally appeared in Chelan County Superior Court before his case was moved to federal district court in Spokane at the beginning of June 2020.

There, he pleaded guilty to two counts of child pornography in June of this year and was sentenced to 210 months (17 ½ Years) in prison on Monday by U.S. District Judge Rosanna Malouf Peterson.

Federal prosecutors dropped some of his child pornography charges as part of his plea.

Mendoza will spend the rest of his life on federal probation, with numerous restrictions, after finishing his prison term.

He was 31-years-old at the time of his arrest, and is now 32.

Federal prosecutors says Mendoza received child pornography in 2014 and engaged child pornography production between 2016 and 2020.
