The Wenatchee High School Bowling team finished sixth in state led by Kylah Hankins and Jaiden Thompson who finished with a 961.

Coach Jeremy Anders says it was a pretty good weekend, but they struggled with one of their worst games to start the tournament.

"After that we bounced back up there. We were in contention to place up in the top 3 or 4 and then towards the end of the second day of the tournament we just kind of lost of our footing and fell down, but the girls did good. It was a really tough shot, one of the tougher shots we've seen. The scores are down across the board in the state tournament this year."

Wenatchee bowled without Elisha Ferguson who was injured during the district tournament.

Anders says this could be the prelude to bigger and better things.

"Some of the experience there, we had some younger bowlers who haven't been there before, but I think we have a pretty young team and we can get back there next year and know what to expect."

Moses Lake's Haley Rogers placed 2nd in state with a 1,157 behind Emerald Ridge's Samantha Dolan who rolled a 1,186 to claim the state individual championship.

The Panthers finished 3rd in state in 2019 after having previously won the state championship in 2016.
