The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges dispersed $5 million in CARES Act funding to community and technical colleges - including for Wenatchee Valley College and Big Bend Community College.

Big Bend received $94,000 and WVC received $199,482.

"[The funding] is geared toward promoting and assisting in an emergency fashion those programs to the economy of the state of Washington and bringing them back from what has been a real catastrophic time," said Tim McClain, Workforce program administrator.

Workforce programs typically incorporate hands on learning and lab work, with social distancing and virtual learning making these programs difficult to conduct.
