Wenatchee Valley College Continuing Education is offering wildfire preparedness courses in a partnership with Okanogan Conservation District. Classes kick off October 23 at the Omak Campus.

"They (the classes) are a great way to prepare now, going into the winter thinking about what you might do in the spring on how to reduce your wildfire risk," said Libby Siebens, community relations executive director.

There will be two classes, 'Managing Your Forest Land for Wildfire and Wildlife' and 'Fire Ready Home and Landscape'. The 'Managing Your Forest Land for Wildfire and Wildlife ' class will have both a one day course on October 23 from 6-8 p.m. and a field trip October 26 9-2 p.m. The 'Fire Ready Home and Landscape' class will be offered on two days, October 30 and November 6, both from 6-8 p.m.
