A Women's March and Rally in Memorial Park Saturday attracted a crowd, including candidates for local elections. The event also featured several booths by local organizations, such as Wenatchee Pride.

"What spurred the event was the law recently passed in Texas and we know it's headed to the Supreme Court, so we are looking to take action on a women's right to choose and her autonomy over her own body," said Meliesa Tigard, Confluence Indivisible member.

The legislation passed in Texas bans abortion as soon as cardiac activity is detectable, which is typically around six weeks pregnant.

"Actions like today are for us to get out and say 'this is what we want', so that we can push for our voices to be heard. We can't control what the Supreme Court does, but we can certainly get out and make our case," said Tigard.

The event was organized by Confluence Indivisible, Chelan and Douglas Democrats and North Central Washington Democrats.
