Yakima County Medical System Exceeding Capacity

The City of Yakima released a statement Friday saying their hospitals are exceeding capacity and had patients waiting for bed space.

In addition, over the past week they have also had critical staffing shortages.

According to the city, there were 61 COVID-19 positive individuals hospitalized as of Friday, the highest they've seen. They've transferred 17 patients out of the area.

During the pandemic, Yakima County has had nearly 6,300 cases to date of COVID-19 and has the highest rate of patients hospitalized for the virus.
