Cantwell Shares Statement on Afghanistan

Washington Senator Maria Cantwell released a statement Friday night following a Congressional briefing on the ongoing situation in Afghanistan.

It reads, in its entirety, "My heart goes out to the families of the heroic service members who were killed, as well as the hundreds of Afghans who lost their lives. I remain committed to the continued evacuations of Americans and our Afghan partners, and to providing humanitarian support to the Afghan people.”

The United States has said the deadline for the American pullout of Afghanistan is August 31st.
