Request to Mandate Vaccines for School Employees Submitted to Gov. Inslee

State Superintendent Chris Reykdal is sending a letter to Governor Jay Inslee requesting an executive order that would mandate all employees in K-12 schools be vaccinated against COVID-19.

He is also requesting that those who choose not to get vaccinated be subject to a non-disciplinary dismissal, though there would be medical and religious exemptions available.

Reykdal points to increases in case rates, particularly due to the Delta Variant, as a threat to in-person instruction which he says is more important than ever.
