Would-be visitors to the Saddle Rock Gateway could face some challenges beginning next week as construction on improvements will be underway. Wenatchee Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Dave Erickson says accessing the trail will be even more challenging.

"We want folks to really be aware of that one because parking is going to be kind of an issue and limited. Not only because of our project, but Appleatchee, the equestrian facility is right next door and they also have a large construction project that's happening at the same time. They're going to be building parking a new barn."

If you want to go to Saddle Rock, you'll want to park further down Circle Street and walk up, but just beware of construction. Erickson also noted that this allows hikers to branch out.

"We have a lot of great trails in the Wenatchee foothills and so this would be a super opportunity for folks to go out and explore some of those other trails they may not have used before. Get out and maybe try to explore those other areas and then when our construction is done, come on back and you'll be able to see the great new trailhead."

The construction will bring permanent restrooms, interpretive signs, paved parking among other improvements when it's done by the end of May.
