Washington State ranks as one of the least dependent on the federal government in the nation according to a new study.

The report by personal finance website WalletHub looked at several key indicators like what residents got back for their federal tax dollars and what percentage of a state's revenue is from federal sources.

Washington ranked as the 5th-least dependent state, with Oregon the 25th-most dependent and Idaho the 20th most-dependent state.

The study found that Alaska was the most federally dependent state in the US, while the least dependent overall was Delaware.
