A recent survey by WalletHub showed 55 percent of parents believe schools should return with in-person learning this fall.

Analyst Jill Gonzalez says for many it's a practical matter.

"A significant share of parents, 32 percent, cannot work remotely. If schools hold remote learning this fall, this may create a difficult situation where some parents will have to choose between leaving their children unsupervised, paying extra for childcare or taking a leave from work."

She further noted that for older kids, it is possible to leave them home, but with younger kids it's not.

The survey also showed that 31% more fathers than mothers think kids should be in a classroom, and there is also a political divide with two-thirds of parents who identify as conservative believing kids should in school while less than half of liberal parents do.
