The annual Boy Scouts of America Christmas Tree recycling event will take place Saturday January 2nd and 9th at the Stemilt Organic Recycling on South Wenatchee Avenue across from the Humane Society.

Troop 7 Assistant Scout Master Jim White says this is one of their community service projects.

"Bring your tree in and we'll take it off your hands and put it in through the recycling. If people want they can contribute to the Scouts. We're asking for a $5 optional donation, otherwise just bring it in and we'll take off your hands for free. That's fine."

Any donation will be gladly accepted to help their members be a part of the program and not have money prevent them from going somewhere.

The recycled trees will be chipped and used around the community as mulch amongst other options.

White says they haven't been able to do many normal Scouting activities since the pandemic began.

"This is something that, I know it's a difficult time for people, but the Scouts are made for difficult times and times of emergency. They've really risen to the challenge and helping out in a lot of different ways in the community."

White says they've done drives for food, toys and gifts and much more.

Christmas trees will be recycled at the Stemilt Organic Center on South Wenatchee Avenue January 2nd and 9th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
