Central Washington University introduced A. James Wohlpart as the 15th President of the school, succeeding James Gaudino.

In an introdution video, Wohlpart says he is honored to take the job.

"I am drawn to the mission of Central with its emphasis on preparing students for enlightened, responsible and productive lives. For producing research, scholarship and creative expression in the public interest. And for serving as a resource to the region and the state through effective stewardship of University resources."

Wohlpart is currently the provost and executive vice president at Northern Iowa University.

"Central Washington University with its strong faculty, high quality academic programs and innovative and caring staff has the potential, and I would even argue the responsibility, to lead the way in forging a new vision for higher education."

The Board also believes Wohlpart brings experience in enrollment and student success initiatives, as well as fundraising to the position at the Ellensburg school.
