Central Washington University President James Gaudino announced Wednesday that he will step down from the role at the end of July in 2021.

In a statement posted to the school's website, he said serving the school has been an honor and he highlighted enrollment growth, building of campus facilities and raising CWU's profile among his accomplishments.

His official resignation will be submitted to the Board of Trustees during their Thursday meeting.

The school has not made any announcement regarding finding his replacement.
