Soap Lake Police Officer Pepper Sprayed, Still Collars Suspect

Soap Lake Police arrested an Ephrata man after a foot pursuit in which the suspect targeted the officer with pepper spray and then ended after deployment of a taser by law enforcement late Saturday night.

According to a Facebook post, Officer Robert Geates saw a vehicle with no lights, blocking Lakemoor Drive near the construction of the Yenney Storage Units.

After contacting the two people inside, it was determined the car had been stolen.

The suspect then took off running and additional law enforcement were called in.

With the extra units, they were able to take Fernando F. Camarena into custody.

He faces multiple charges, including second degree assault.
